The College of Agriculture offers a dual advising model, connecting you with both professional advisors in the Office of Student Services and faculty advisors within your academic program. This approach ensures you receive guidance that is both academically aligned and tailored to your career goals.
How Advising Works
Students may work with:
- Office of Student Services (OSS) for general academic planning, policies, and support
- Faculty Advisors for major-specific guidance and discipline-focused planning
Details about your assigned advisor and how to connect can be found on the college’s advising page.
Scheduling an Appointment
Appointments with OSS advisors can be scheduled through Navigate by selecting:
Academic Advising → College of Agriculture → Advising
Some faculty advisors also use Navigate, while others may ask that you reach out via email. Instructions for contacting faculty advisors are available on the college’s website.
If you’re unsure where to start, you can email the OSS advising team at agri@lsu.edu for guidance.
Drop-In Advising
The College of Agriculture offers in-person drop-in advising through OSS:
- Morning: 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
- Afternoon: 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Important Notes
- Some majors, including Natural Resource Ecology & Management and Textiles, Apparel & Merchandising, require faculty advising before registration. An advising hold will remain on your account until this requirement is completed.
Students can schedule advising appointments through Navigate or by emailing the advising team directly.
Both scheduled appointments and drop-in advising are available for current Art & Design majors. Drop-in advising is offered in person Monday–Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Students who are interested in changing majors should email the advising team to schedule an appointment, as this process requires departmental approval.
If students are unable to schedule through Navigate, they may contact the advising team directly:

Meeting with an academic advisor is recommended each semester—especially for freshmen in their first two semesters at LSU. Any student on university scholastic status (warning, probation) are required to meet with an advisor prior to course registration. Transfer and Re-entry students are required to meet with an academic advisor prior to course registration.
To avoid schedule changes after the official registration period, students are encouraged to plan each semester’s coursework in consultation with an academic advisor.
