SCI Lead
SCI Lead is a student council within the College of Science, which assists students in developing professional, leadership, and communication skills. Our members participate in a variety of professional and community opportunities, that are designed to help students network with others in their field and prepare them for a career in science.
Our goal is to support professional skill development through creative thinking, leadership training opportunities and community outreach, while also helping students establish their professional identities.
Members of SCI Lead receive the following opportunities during their time within the council:
- Participate in a Leadership Learning Laboratory (a series of workshops designed to strengthen leadership skills)
- Collaborate with fellow members to address challenges through strategic student-led initiatives for the LSU and Baton Rouge Community
- Engage in the development and implementation of outreach events and activities for their peers and K-12 students
SCI Lead members are paid up to $750 per semester and are awarded a leadership certificate at the end of the academic year.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Enrolled as a full-time student
- Have completed at least one semester at LSU
- Be in good academic standing with the University
- Have at least a 3.0 semester & cumulative GPA
- Major in a degree program within the College of Science (Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Microbiology, or Physics)
